Websites are constantly changing: Their design; what looks fresh; how Google perceives them and what your potential customers have come to expect. Make sure you have the know-how to ensure yours is performing!
If your website doesn’t appeal to your visitors, potential customers will simply click away – to understand if they are doing that check out your sites analytics (not sure what that means? Check out our earlier blog on the subject)
So if you’ve done your research and discovered that in fact although you are getting visitors to your page and the bounce rate is high, then you need to firstly understand why.
Try and be objective and ask yourself the following questions: –
- Is your site dated?
- Is it clear from the homepage/landing page what you do?
- Does your site immediately connect with visitors? i.e. does it explain why you do what you do? (‘Why’ is more important here than explaining the ‘What’ – if you site is designed right the ‘what’ should be clear enough)
- Is your site responsive? i.e. is it optimised for mobile?
If you have answered ‘No’ to ANY of these questions you need to take urgent action to rectify these problems. Why? Because you are losing customers.
So, ensure that your site is attractive, fresh, modern – this tells your visitors you are current, still in business and still care about how your business is perceived.
Your website’s visitors need to be able to find what they want on your site quickly and easily. But don’t be afraid to try new ways to take them on a journey – see our homepage and the use of our map to guide visitors around our site directing them to the answers they are seeking.
